The tightly woven wicker strands are made from durable polyethylene (PE) resin, which is designed to withstand fading, weathering, and aging within a temperature range of -70C (-94F) to 80C (176F) degrees. The washable wicker strands have a powder-coated finish with a modest sheen that easily sheds drizzle and accidental drips, and its looks will remain unchanged for three years under normal usage. No assembly is required.
This middle chair combines with the other pieces from this sectional collection to create a loungey atmosphere, or it can be easily used on its own. All-weather, cherry-hued block-wood legs and a weatherproof aluminum frame provide increased durability while making the seat impervious to sun and rain. This seat measures 31-3/4 by 31-3/4 by 30 inches (WxDxH).
The comfortably firm, natural-hued cushion measures 31 inches wide and 26-1/2 inches deep. The cover has a zippered closure, allowing you to remove the interior polyurethane foam for cleaning. The cushion is not weather treated, and should be brought inside during inclement weather. It can spot cleaned with warm water and mild detergent.
The term "wicker" doesn't refer to a particular material, but a style of construction that weaves together stiff strands of fibers such as rattan, willow, and bamboo. Woven furniture has been around since ancient Egypt, but wicker is believed to have been given its name in Scandinavia--with wika meaning to bend and vikker meaning willow in Swedish. Wicker was first popularized in America in the 1850s, and was used extensively in the Arts and Crafts movement at the turn of the 20th century.

Tips for the right & left section5
I purchased right, left and center pieces for the set. I found out that the left and right piece is identical (you could rotate 90 degree to make it either way). Therefore, you can purchase 2 left or 2 right and saved you $$$ when the price is not the same. I saved $40 by complaining to amazon when I found out this (because one of the other side was $40 less).
It is a good looking set of outdoor furniture. Nice quality and comfort. However, I wish the seat is slightly higher, kinda low for me.
Love this All Weather Sofa Set!4
I bought 3 pieces of this sofa set: the left lounger, the right lounger and the center seat. I have not seen anything like it anywhere else. I love that it's all-weather. The cushions are not "all-weather", but the detail description of the item clearly states that. They clean up very easily. There is only one thing I would have done differently with this set. That is to make the seats a little higher. They do sit low to the floor. I'm not sure why many patio seats are designed that way. But it is a very nice quality set. It looks great and works well in my enclosed patio room.
Low Slung, Modern4
Lovely pieces, low to the ground, very modern, clean lines. I've had this set for over a year now, and here are my thoughts:
- Requires a handfull of throw pillows for the back. The bigger and more, the better.
- I would recommend putting additional wood protector on the wooden legs as they are subject to fading. I've oiled these and it helps a little.
- The cushions do get dirty, but the easiest way I've found to clean them is to spray them down with a hose, a light soapy solution and a scrub brush. You could also try one of those spray-on waterproofing deals to see if that helps. These are not totally weatherproof cushions. If you are handy you could make slip covers pretty easily.
- The plastic (polyethylene) wicker has held up very well. Note that it is not PVC (polyvinyl chloride, a very toxic plastic in its manufacturing), which was a big reason I bought these. Technically Polyethylene (PE) is recyclable, so you may be able to recycle many parts of the thing at the end of its life versus throwing it out.
- Durable. Will last a long time with care. May need to make seat covers after a few years.
Overall I love this sectional set. It is unique and much more affordable than other versions I've seen out there. Highly recommended, just beware that you'll need extra cushions and will have to periodically clean the seat cushions.
